Close Encounter
Born in Loboc, Bohol on December 18, 1923. Second child among the five siblings of Doroteo Varquez and Genoviva Septimo. Spent the childhood and teenage years in the secluded music town in Bohol. Brought up by her parents in traditional catholic beliefs and upbringings.
After the second world war, she left Bohol seeking greener pasture across the sea. She went to Davao City and stayed at the house of my cousin Encarnacion.
She found her smile and eventually met Gavino, a Boholano from the town of Valencia, widower and years older.
She got married and their union gave them two children, Gare the eldest and Ermelinda the youngest.
Her son Irvin, married to Hilda Chin, Chinese mestiza and blessed them with four children, Mary Ann, Irene, Irvin Junior and Harold. Irvin died at an early age from a tragic vehicular accident. All their children are now professionals. Mary Ann is a practicing nurse in Texas, USA, married to Orland and has a son name Ralph. Irene, practicing lawyer connected to one of the most respected firm in the country. She is married to butch and has four children, the eldest is in college right now. Irvin Junior is in Davao right now. She is married to Annabelle from Isabela and has two sons. The youngest, Harold is a nurse, living in Los Angeles California. He is married to Ivy and they have son and daughter.
Her son Gare married to Myrna, a Batangueña and they have a daughter name Siblyl, currently taking nursing. Both Gare and Myrna worked for the government. They live in the southern part of Davao City.
Her daughter Ermelinda married to Nestor of Baganga, Davao Oriental. They have four children, namely Ernie, the eldest, Jayvee and Sharyll.
Her grandson Ernie is currently with the government office. Jayvee and Sharyll are still in college.
On September 2008, the unprecedented event happened. The worse ordeal confronted the whole family when her daughter Emy passed away at age 56, due to breast cancer.
At present, she spent most of her time at home. She remains healthy and
energetic at 85 and and likes to watch television ptogram during noon and primetime
